Welcome Home! Your Move-In & Move-Out Guide for a Smooth Start

Move-In Checklist

​Congratulations on joining an Hagerstown Rentals Property!  We’re excited to have you and want to ensure a smooth start to your tenancy. Follow these steps to get settled in:

First Month’s Rent & Security Deposit

Your first month’s rent, security deposit, and any other applicable fees must be paid at the lease signing to secure your new home. Please confirm the total amount in advance to avoid any delays.

Move-In Date & Inspection

Your official move-in date and inspection details will be scheduled during the lease signing. We’ll provide all necessary information to ensure a seamless transition.

Utilities

All utility accounts must be transferred into your name before you can take occupancy. This is a requirement of your lease agreement. Failure to do so may result in delayed move-in or service interruptions, and you will be responsible for any reconnection fees. Please ensure all accounts are set up prior to your scheduled move-in date.

Move-Out Checklist

We’ve loved having you as a tenant and hope you’ve enjoyed your time with us! As you prepare to move out, please follow these key steps to ensure a smooth transition.

Notice of Intent to Vacate

All tenants must provide written notice before moving out. Please review your lease terms to confirm your required notice period and official move-out date.

Move-Out Cleaning & Maintenance Checklist

We appreciate you taking the time to leave your rental in great condition! Follow this checklist to ensure everything is ready before move-out.

Home Cleaning & Maintenance

🛁 Bathrooms – Scrub sinks, tubs, showers, and toilets. Wipe down mirrors, counters, and cabinets. Sweep/mop floors.

🏠 Hallways & Living Areas – Dust surfaces, wipe down walls and baseboards, and vacuum or mop floors.

🔥 Stove – Clean burners, oven racks, and inside of the oven. Remove grease and spills.

🌡 Microwave – Wipe down inside and outside, removing any food residue.

🫧 Dishwasher – Run an empty cycle with a cleaning solution. Wipe edges and remove debris from the filter.

🗄 Cupboards & Drawers – Empty all cabinets and drawers. Wipe inside and outside to remove crumbs and dust.

🎨 Paint Touch-Ups – Please do not attempt paint touch-ups. We prefer to handle this through Hagerstown Rentals to ensure a consistent finish.

 

Final Tasks

🔌 Utilities – Contact your utility providers to schedule shut-off or transfer services to the next tenant.

📬 Post Office – Forward your mail to your new address through the USPS.

🔑 Return Keys – All keys, fobs, and garage openers must be returned as instructed. Contact us for details.

 

Security Deposit

Your security deposit will be processed after move-out and inspection. Any deductions for damages, unpaid rent, or cleaning fees (if applicable) will be outlined in a final statement.

 

We will return the deposit within 45 days, in accordance with Maryland tenant-landlord law.

 

Please ensure we have your forwarding address for deposit return.
